Lemon Garlic Pan-Seared Cod
This recipe is simple and easy to make at home. The tender cod combined with the fresh lemon and garlic flavors creates a unique and delicious dish. Enjoy!
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 20 minutesIngredients:
- Cod fillets: 2 pieces
- Olive oil: 2 tablespoons
- Minced garlic: 2 cloves
- Lemon: 1 (juiced)
- Salt: to taste
- Black pepper: to taste
- Rosemary: to taste (optional)
- Butter: 1 tablespoon (optional)
Tips:
For a crispy skin, lightly dust the cod fillets with flour before searing. This will give the fish a golden, crispy crust.
Be careful not to overcook the cod to keep the fish tender and juicy.
Instructions:
- Prepare the Cod: Rinse the cod fillets under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Sprinkle both sides of the fillets with salt and black pepper, and let them marinate for 5-10 minutes.
- Heat the Pan: Add olive oil to a skillet and heat over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the minced garlic and sauté for a few seconds until fragrant.
- Pan-Sear the Cod: Place the cod fillets in the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, until the fish turns white and flakes easily with a fork. You can add rosemary during this step to enhance the flavor.
- Add Lemon Juice and Butter: Drizzle fresh lemon juice over the cooked cod. If desired, add a small piece of butter to the skillet for a richer flavor.
- Serve: Transfer the seared cod fillets to a plate, and pour the sauce from the skillet over the fish. You can serve the dish with some vegetables or mashed potatoes as a side.
